Mable Fern (Miller) Block, the daughter of Guy W. and Bertha L. (Leider) Miller, was born at Ocheyedan, Iowa on November 14, 1914. She lived her youth at Sibley and Sanborn and graduated from Sanborn High School in 1934.
She was united in marriage to Albert Carl Block on January 8, 1935, at Sanborn, Iowa. Albert was employed with the Milwaukee Railroad and they resided at various locations throughout the Midwest. Albert died in 1981. Mable returned to make her home in Sanborn in 1937. She died at Spencer Municipal Hospital at Spencer, Iowa on October 15, 1999, at the age of 84 years, 11 months and one day.
She is survived by her children: Ernest and Nancy Block of Kansas City, Mo., and Lisa and Alan Kratunis of Ingleside, Illinois; five grandchildren [redacted], ten great grandchildren; one brother, Roger Miller of Auburn, Ga., and two sisters: Mrs. Robert (Leona) Gruenewald and Mrs. Gene (Carla) Beckman, both of Sanborn, other relatives and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sons: Stanley, Albert Carl Jr., and Denny; one daughter, Sharon; one sister, Berniece Gruenwewald, and one brother, Delbert Miller.
Her children and family were a very important part of her life.
Memorial services were held October 19 at Saint John's Lutheran Church, Sanborn, with Pastor Kenneth Funke officiating.
Burial was in Roseland Cemetery, Sanborn with the Sanborn Funeral Home in charge.
