Ida Bertha Friederke Paulsen the daughter of Reinhard and Caroline Lena (Kruse) Fegebank was born September 3, 1917 in Baker Township, O’Brien County, Iowa. She received her education in country school near the family farm. On June 3, 1938 she was united in marriage to Clarence Paulsen in Paullina, Iowa and the couple were blessed with three children Bernard, Caroline, and Leonard. After their marriage, the couple farmed south of Granville, Iowa. They moved into Paullina in 1956, where they lived for many years. Ida moved to the Heartland Care Center in Marcus, Iowa where Clarence resided. Clarence passed away at the Heartland Care Center on November 21, 2009 after over 71 years of marriage to Ida. Ida remained a resident there until her passing on Thursday June 25, 2020 reaching the age of 102 years 9 months and 22 days.

She was baptized on September 17, 1917 at St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown by Rev Potratz and later confirmed on May 22, 1932 at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina by Rev. Hartmeister and was a lifelong member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina. She was a former member of the Dorcas Society and the Lamplighters. She enjoyed spending time with her family and working with her hands.

Ida is survived by three children Bernie and his wife Judy Paulsen of Paullina, Iowa; Carol and her husband Stewart Goslinga of LeMars, Iowa; and Leonard and his wife Cindy Paulsen of Paullina, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Randy and his wife, Julie Paulsen; Steve and his wife, Joyce Paulsen; Dave and his wife Traci Paulsen; Ronda and her husband, Greg Jahn; Ted and his wife, Deanna Goslinga; Elizabeth and her husband Doug Cavanaugh; Paul and his wife, Terry Paulsen and Pat and his wife, Gina Paulsen; twenty great grandchildren; eleven great-great grandchildren; one sister Irene Massmann and a sister-in-law Gladys Paulsen both of Sanborn, Iowa; also a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five sisters Mabel Fritz, Etta Massmann, Clara Niebuhr, Helen Kruger, Bernice Bonderman and three brothers in infancy.
