Herman Schuknecht, 62, well-known O'Brien county farmer and Union township assessor for the past sixteen years, died very suddenly here Thursday morning, February 28, of a heart attack. Mr. Schuknecht had been in comparatively good health and apparently had no warning of the attack which took his life. He was at work in connection with the assessing when he suddenly lost consciousness in a Paullina business place, and died only a few minutes later.
The funeral services were held Monday, March 3 at 1:30 at the home and 2 o'clock at Zion Lutheran Church. Rev. Martin Peters conducted the services. Interment followed in Prairie View cemetery.
Herman Schuknecht, the son of Fred Schuknecht and his wife, Sophia, nee Lange, was born on a farm about a mile east of Germantown on September 20, 1889.
At the age of twenty-one, on December 7, 1910, he was married to Anna Pries. To them were born four sons and three daughters.
After their marriage, the Schuknechts lived on a farm about four miles southeast of Paullina, where they have remained since.
He is survived by his wife, Anna; his sons Harry of Sutherland, Roy of Paullina, Raymond of Everly and Delbert of Peterson; his daughters, Nora (Mrs. Albert Feldotto) of Paullina, Mildred (Mrs. Virgil Guthridge) of Kingsley, and Norma (Mrs. Earl Kluender) of Hartley; and eight grandchildren; his brothers, Fred and Louis of Paullina and William in the state of Washington, his sisters, Mrs. Lena Meldous of Thornton, Illinois, Mrs. Charles Miller Sr. of Paullina, Mrs. Anna Kluender of Brook Park, Minnesota; Mrs. Martha Wittrock in South Dakota, and Mrs. Robert Meyer of Paullina.
