Funeral services for Mr. Grover Charles Fanning were held in Trinity United Church of Christ on Wednesday, February 3.

Mr. Grover Charles Fanning was born on August 30, 1888, in Sioux City, Iowa. He spent his early days in Clay and Osceola Counties where he attending the rurual schools. He was married to Edith Gathman on May 22, 1912, to which union four children were born.

The couple farmed for twenty years in Osceola county, The past twenty-eight years they lived in Hartley during which time Mr. Fanning worked for the railroad. He retired seven years ago during which time he built the present home. He thoroughly enjoyed his retirement, giving enthusiastic interest to all sports.

He died suddenly from a heart attack on January 31st.

He was a member of Trinity Church and he particularly enjoyed his past home which in great part was the product of his endeavor. His many friends will long remember for his spirit of friendliness and kindnesses.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Grover Fanning; a daughter, Mrs. Verlene Mori, Everly, Iowa, three sons, Mr. Verline Fanning of Hartley, Mr. Vernon Fanning of Hartley and Mr. Verle Fanning of San Leandro, California; eight grandchildre and two great grandchildren; three brothers, Jim Fanning of Hartley, Robert Fanning of Billings, Montana and Frank Fanning of Moneta, Iowa; three sisters, Mrs. Frank Meyers of Hartley, Mrs. Susie Franker of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Mrs. Hazel Thorop of Evansville, Indiana.
