Blanche Agnes (Pixler) Smith (1886-1978)

Mrs. Blanche Smith, 92, passed away Friday, September 15, at 8:40 a.m. in the Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital following a six month illness. Her home had been in Cherokee since March of 1978. Prior to this she lived on a farm near Sutherland for 30 years.

She was born April 30, 1886 at Pierson, Iowa. The former Blanche Pixler, she was married to Harry C. Smith on January 23, 1907 at Pierson, Iowa. She was a member of the Church of Christ at Sutherland, and was a charter member of the Larrabee American Legion Auxilliary.

She is survived by four sons and two daughters: Oscar Smith, Aurelia; Forrest H. Smith, Larrabee; Ralph G. Smith, Twin Falls, Idaho; Earl R. Smith, Sutherland; Mrs. John (June) Raper, Sutherland; Mrs. Gerald (Anna Belle) McKenzie, Cherokee; thirty-five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harry C. Smith on October 4, 1971, also one son, 3 daughters, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

Funeral services for Mrs. Blanche Smith were held Monday, September 18 at 2 p.m. from the Boothby Funeral home. Rev. Robert Hoblitt officiated and burial was in the Cedar Cemetery at Larrabee.
