Carl Wagner passed away very suddenly shortly after noon Monday in the Lutheran Hospital, Sioux City, where he had been a patient three weeks. He had submitted to an operation there about two weeks ago and was apparently doing fine, when he was stricken Monday forenoon and died in a short time. He had expected to come home in a few days.

Carl C. Wagner, the fifth child in a family of fourteen, was born at Hebron, Nebraska, March 31, 1896 and passed away June 27, 1949, being 53 years, 2 months and 26 days of age.

After his marriage to Kathryn Starkle in 1926, they moved to Wolsey, South Dakota. He engaged in farming there until 1938 when they moved near Sanborn. In 1956 he retired from the farm, moved into town, and was employed at the O'Brien County Cooperative Creamery. He had also worked for the Sanborn Telephone Company. He had continued at his work until late in May.

Mr. Wagner was a life long member of the Lutheran church at the time of his demise being affiliated with Saint John's Lutheran church here.

Surviving are three daughters: Clarice, Mrs. Wesley Watterson, of Sanborn; Jo Ann and Ro Joan Wagner of Waterloo and one grandson; also two sisters: Mrs. Esther Simental, Hillsboro, Oregon, and Mrs. Kate Blumke, Ogden, Utah; eight brothers: Dave, George, and Isaak, all of Wolsey, South Dakota; Fred of Delta, Colorado; Adlolf, Hillsboro, Oregon; Jacob, Minneapolis, Minnesota; John, Winside, Nebraska; and Ernst, Waterloo. Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be Friday afternoon at one o'clock in the family home and at 1:30 in Saint John's Lutheran church. Burial will be in Roseland Cemetery.
