Walter Reimers, the son of Henry and Mary Hansen Reimers, was born August 29, 1913 in O'Brien County, Iowa, near Hartley. He passed into eternal life on February 21, 1965 at Philip, South Dakota, at the age of 51 years, 5 months and 22 days.
He had lived in O'Brien County until 1927 and had resided at Philip since that time. He was a rancher.
From March of 1942 until December of 1945, he served his country in the armed forces and saw service in World War II. He was a member of the American Legion, Wheeler Brooks Post 173 at Philip.
Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
Survivors include one brother, John of Philip; five sisters, Lena Reimers, Sophia Reimers, and Mrs. Pearl Couch, all of Philip; Mrs. Marie Hansen of Primghar; and Mrs. Florence Henning of Hartley; two nieces and four nephews as well as many friends.
Funeral services were held February 24 at the Methodist Church in Philip at 10:00 o'clock a.m. with Reve James Vos officiating and the American Legion in charge of military services.
Last rites were also held at the Baumgarten Funeral Home on February 25th at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Donald Samuelson and the American Legion officiating.
