Maurice Keith Gross, the son of Warren and Matilda (Marquardt) Gross, was born at Sanborn, Iowa on June 2, 1924. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church at Sanborn. Maurie lived his youth and received his education at Sanborn. He served his country in the United States Army from March 27, 1943 until November 19, 1945.

He was united in marriage to Marjorie Cummings on March 24, 1946, at Spencer, Iowa. Following their marriage, Maurie and Marge resided in Spencer for five years before moving to California in 1951 where he was employed as a sheet metal inspector during his lifetime. He was a member of the Los Angeles County Council of the American Legion. He enjoyed golfing and fishing. They moved to Sanborn, Iowa, in 1990, and Maurie died at his home in Sanborn on June 14, 1997, at the age of 73 years and 12 days.

Maurie is survived by his wife, Majorie, of Sanborn; one brother, Weldon of Green City, Mo., and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Gary and Raymond.
