Polly Louisa Norton was born in Hamilton, Ohio, May, 28, 1827. On the 14th of March, 1849 she was married to David K. Vrooman. Seven children were born of this union, three sons and four daughters. Of these, two are dead.
The family moved to Wisconsin in 1854, to Iowa in 1876, to Nebraska in 1882, later, returning to Iowa and living at Sheldon, where Mr. Vrooman died thirteen years ago.
Since the death of her husband, Mrs. Vrooman made her home with her children. Two years ago she came from Nebraska , where she had been living with a son, and made her home with her eldest daughter, Mrs. John Gress. Mrs. Vrooman was a Baptist, having united with the Baptist church when she was 39 years of age. Having loved and served her Lord, she has now gone to be with him.
Five children remain to mourn the death of their mother: Lorin Vrooman in Nebraska ; James Vrooman in Oklahoma ; Frank Vrooman, Mrs. John Gress and Mrs. Addie Rice, all of Sanborn, Iowa. Mrs. Vrooman is also survived by a sister living in Ohio, and a brother living in Kilborn, Wis.
Mrs. Vrooman departed this world Tuesday morning, Sept. 7, 1909, aged 82 years, 3 months, 21 days.
