Edna Centner, the daughter of John and Christina Matter Centner, was born December 1, 1904 in Harrison Township, in Osceola County, Iowa near May City. She was baptized in St. John's Lutheran Church at May City and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hartley on March 28, 1920 and was currently a member.
She lived with her parents and then at Glenwood, Iowa. Since 1958 she was a resident of the O'Brien County Home at Primghar, until moving to the Mann Wing at Hartley in 1979.
She passed away at Hartley on November 19, 1980 at the age of 75.
Preceding her in death were her parents, one brother, Charles and two sisters, Bertha and Ida.
Her survivors include one sister and her husband, Emma and Mansel Ridinger of Littleton, Colorado, one brother and his wife. Otto and Minnie Centner of Wiley, Colorado, one sister-in-law, Sadie Centner of Hartley, one uncle, John Matter of Cedar Rapids, as well as 10 nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services in memory of Edna Centner were held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Saturday afternoon, November 22. Rev. John Schauer officiated. Casket bearers were Merle Petersen, Vern Centner, Bob Fahlenkamp, Wilbur Wacker, Waldo Hansen and Curtis Jass. Burial was at Pleasant View Cemetery at Hartley with the Baumgarten Funeral Home in charge.
