Ben Philiph, 96, Spencer, died Sunday, at the Spencer Municipal Hospital. Services were at 10:30 a.m. January 17 at the First English Lutheran Church. The Rev. Ronald Meyer officiated and burial was in Northlawn Cemetery under direction of the Baumgarten Funeral Home.
Mr. Philiph was born August 27,1882, in Luzerne. He married Bertha Centner Feb. 6, 1908 in Osceola County. They farmed in Osceola and Dickinson Counties before retiring in 1943, when they moved into Spencer. They moved to Mesa, Arizona in 1959.
Mrs. Philiph died in 1961, and he returned to Spencer in 1970.
He was a member of the First English Lutheran Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Hugo (Mabel) Petersen of May City, Mrs. James (Laura) Conner of Arnolds Park and Mrs. Sam (Ella)Barman of Spencer; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
