Mrs. John Laubach, nee Katherine Holtmann, the daughter of Jacob and Katherine Magenheimer Holtmann, was born in Neusandez, Austria on Sept. 28, 1884. She entered into eternal rest on Feb. 24, 1969, at Hartley, Iowa, at the age of 84 years. 4 months, and 26 days.

She attended the schools near her childhood home in Austria, and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On Sept. 21, 1907 she was united in marriage to John Laubach at Neusandez. They came to America in 1909, arriving on Dec. 22. She had lived in O'Brien County, Iowa since that time. They were the parents of nine children. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Hartley.

Mr. Laubach preceded his wife in death in 1963. She was also preceded by her parents, one brother, one sister, a son-in-law, Ervin Elser, and 2 grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory are her nine children: Ernest of Avoca. Minn., Alfred of Lake Park, Iowa, Bertha (Mrs. William Popp) of Harris, Iowa, Otillia (Mrs. Hans Kroger) of Hartley, Gertrude (Mrs. Alois Lenz) of Paullina, Iowa, William of Spencer, Iowa, Adolph of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Laura (Mrs. Glen Recher) of Harris, Iowa, and Harold of Hartley, 20 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews, other relatives, and her many friends

Funeral services were held at St Paul's Lutheran Church in Hartley on Thursday, February 27. with Rev. A. O. Bleeke officiating. Pallbearers were Duane Laubach, Glen Recher, Jr., Kenneth Kroger, Robert Elser, John Elser and Delbert Popp. Honorary pallbearers were her grandsons. Interment was in Pleasant
View Cemetery with the Baumgarten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
