SHELDON:
Edward Ward answered the final summons on Sunday evening in the city, where he had spent the declining years of his life. The immediate cause of death was advanced age. Mr. Ward had seen valiant service in the War of the Rebellion, and his passing has left a gap in the thinning ranks of the survivors of that great struggle. Coming to O’Brien county at an early day, he with the noble helpmate, who several years ago preceded him to the great beyond, established a home on the virgin soil of Iowa, and acquired a competency which enabled them to pass their latter years in peace, happiness and comfort. Two children—a son, Edward—and a daughter, Mrs. Emma Dockendorf—both residents of Sheldon, were born of the union. The funeral arrangements are unknown to this writer at the present time. Sincere sympathy is extended to the bereaved friends and relatives in the loss which they have sustained.
