Betty Jean Strampe passed away November 13th, 2019, at age 92, at a memory care facility in San Luis Obispo, CA. She was born May 26, 1927 and grew up as Betty Jean Fredholm in Paullina Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Palmer “Pinky” Strampe; their daughter Delores Jean Spragg; and survived by two sons, James and Greg Strampe, 4 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.

Betty enjoyed bowling on local teams and playing cards with friends. You could never drive by a garage sale or antique shop without stopping to search for that elusive RS Prussia piece of china or other antique that caught her eye. They were members of the RS Prussia group and traveled to many RS Prussia Conventions around the country over the years where they met old and new friends with the same collecting passion.

She had a 45-year career as an Executive Secretary, and worked 25 years for CalTrans (CA DOT) and could have probably given today’s “Texters” a run for their money, even with spell-check, in typing up a memo or detailed proposal on a manual typewriter at 125 words per minute.

Together they especially enjoyed traveling to visit relatives in the Midwest and Sweden.

A Celebration of Life may be held at a later date.
