Karen Janette Cooper, the daughter of Ira and Alma (Hurtig) Tesch was born April 13, 1940 on the family farm near Paullina, Iowa. She attended school in Paullina and graduated from Paullina High School in 1958. On March 12, 1960, she was united in marriage to Jack Cooper in Jackson, Minnesota. The couple lived in Marcus and later moved to Sutherland, Iowa in 1972 to make their home, where the couple raised their four children. Her husband preceded her in death on June 16, 1993 in Denison, Iowa. Karen continued to make her home in Sutherland and moved to Paullina in 1998. She continued to make her home in Paullina and on Thursday, February 5, 2015, she moved to the Heartland Care Center in Marcus. She passed away on Monday, February 9, 2015 at the Heartland Care Center reaching the age of 74 years, 9 months and 26 days.
She was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Calumet, Iowa and a member of the Womens Fellowship of the church. She enjoyed her family times, baking, cooking, crafts, putting puzzles together and dancing.
Karen is survived by her children, Debra and her husband, Todd Hattermann of Paullina, Iowa; Mark Cooper of Spencer Iowa; Brian and his wife, Danette Cooper of Monmouth, Illinois and Brenda Harmdierks of Cherokee Iowa; nine grandchildren, Kayla, Kacey, Jarod, Chad, Breanne, Bryce, Danielle, Ryan and Katie; three great grandchildren, Jaymz, Adelynn and Michael; three sisters, Iris Hunnel of Alta, Iowa; Jean and her husband, Dick Edwards and Marney and her husband, Bill Click all of Paullina, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Darlene Tesch of Paullina, Iowa and a brother-in-law, Merle Kuehl of Granville, Iowa; also other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one brother, Verlon Tesch and a sister, Gerda Kuehl.
