Gerda L. Kuehl, the daughter of Ira and Alma Hurtig Tesch was born June 5, 1936, on the family farm in Cherokee County, Iowa. On June 9, 1954, she was united in marriage Merle Kuehl in Calumet, Iowa. After their marriage, the couple have spent their married life in the Paullina and Granville areas. She was President and C.E.O of four corporations working with her husband in all aspects of their farming corporations. Gerda was also a homemaker and mother of four children. She passed away on Tuesday, September 29 1998, at the Marian Health Center in Sioux City, Iowa reaching the age of 62 years, 3 months and 24 days.
She was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Calumet and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Paullina, having served in many offices of the Auxiliary.
Gerda is survived by her husband, Merle of Granville; four daughters: Ronnette Puhrmann of Paullina, Tamara and her husband Mark Miller of Cherokee, Iowa, Lori and her husband Russ Schwebach of Granville, Iowa and Michelle and her husband Brad Miller of Cottonwood, Arizona. 10 grandchildren: Jeremy, Tabitha and David Puhrmann, Cory,, Courtnie and Ashley Miller, Ethan and Duncan Schwebach and Meghan and Brandon Miller; two great-grandchildren: Cameron Maxwell and Jeremy Puhrman, Jr.; her mother, Mrs. Alma Tesch of Paullina; one brother Pete and his wife Darlene Tesch of Paullina, and four sisters: Iris and her husband, Jack Hunnel, Jean and her husband, Dick Edwards, Marney and her husband, Bill Click and Karen Cooper , all of Paullina, also many nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends,
She was preceded in death by her father, Ira Tesch.
Interment in Prairie View Cemetery in Paullina, Iowa.
