Jeremiah Furnas was born March 18, 1832, in the state of Ohio and lived there with his parents until 1852 when he moved to Iowa County, Iowa, where he was married May 11 to Miss May Brannen who still survives him.

After residing in several other counties, they came to Sanborn in 1894. Three children were born to them of whom only Mrs. T. W. Farnsworth is still living.

Mr. Furnas had suffered nearly all winter from a complication of diseases and died at 4 o'clock Tuesday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. T.W. Farnsworth.

The funeral took place from the Catholic church at 10 a.m. Wednesday, conducted by Rev. Father McCormick.
