AMANDA DITTMER 1894—1988

Amanda Otteman, the daughter of Ehler and Louise (Schuldt) Otteman, was born in Buena Vista County, Iowa on March 22,1894. She spent her youth and attended school in the Albert City, Iowa vicinity.

On September 8, 1926 she was united in marriage to Elmer Dittmer at Spirit Lake and to this union one son was born. Elmer passed away in 1933 and following his death, Amanda attended beauty college in Sioux City. Following graduation, she resided in Melvin for several years and moved to Sanborn in 1938 where she worked as a beautician for over 25 years. She entered Prairie View Home at Sanborn October 13, 1982 and she passed away there on May 7, 1988 at the age of 94 years, one month and 15 days.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Del and Sonia Dittmer of Phoenix, Ariz., and two grandchildren.

Amanda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and one sister.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church at Sanborn, the Ladies' Aid, and had been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Funeral services were held May 11 at St. John's Lutheran Church at Sanborn with Rev. Kenneth Funke officiating. Casket bearers were Francis Moore, Keith Steinbeck, Marlow Dorman and Bill Grogan. Congregational hymns were "Heaven Is My Home" and "I Know That My Redeemer Lives." Mrs. Arnold Steuck was organist.

Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Ireton, Iowa with the Sanborn Funeral Home in charge.
