Charles Baumeister, son of
Chris and Margaret Baumeister,
was born February 26, 1866, at
Postville, Iowa. Here he spent
his youth, and received his education
and was baptized.

He came to Hartley, Iowa, at the age
of 20 years, where he was engaged
in farming until forced to
retire on account of his health.

He departed this life on March
4th, 1957, at the age of 91 years
and 6 days. Although in declining
health for the past several
years, he maintained a cheerful
spirit to the end.

In 1893 he was married to Dora
Bruegmann who preceded him
in death in 1931.

He leaves to mourn his departure,
a daughter, Mrs. Ernest Mengel, and one
son, Chris Baumeister, 4 grandchildren,
and 4 great grandchildren;
one sister, Mary Peterson
of Postville, Iowa, one brother,
John of Des Moines, Iowa, and
many other relatives and friends.

Two sisters and four brothers
preceded him in death.

Services were held in Trinity
Evangelical and Reformed church
in Hartley on Thursday, March
7, 1957, with Reverend Ralph
Maschmeier officiating. Mrs.
Dorothy Pike, organist, accompanied
Miss Plorencce Fahlenkamp
and Mr. Wayne Muhs, who
sang "The Sweet Bye and Bye*
and "In the Garden."
Interment was made in Pleasant
View Cemetery at Hartley,
Iowa. Pallbearers were six nephews:
Will Baumeister, Harry Baumeister,
Fred Baumeister, Henry Baumeister,
Alfred Scholerman and Joe Holland.
The Foley Funeral Home was in charge
of arrangements.

Relatives who attended the funeral
services from Postville, Iowa,
were Mrs. Vern Trudo, Mrs
Richard Bigler, Mrs. Anton Peterson
and Mrs. Orville Peterson.
Those from Des Moines were Mr.
and Mrs. John Baumeister, Jr.,
and Mrs. Margaret Yarnell.

WE ARE SORRY
The Sentinel was misinformed
as to the first name of Mr. Baumeister
who passed away last
week. It was Charles Baumeister
rather than John Baumeister, 94,
who lives in Des Moines.
