This community was saddened to learn of the death of Mrs. Charles Hyde, who passed quietly away at her home here at eight-thirty o'clock, Monday morning. Mrs. Hyde had been confined to her home by illness the past winter and death came as a relief to several months suffering.

Ida Helena Cummings, daughter of Benjamin and Carrie Cummings, was born August 20, 1866, in Colburg, Ontario, Canada, and passed away at her home in Sanborn, Iowa, January 28, 1935, at the ago or 68 years 5 months and 8 days.

When but a child the family moved to Mitchell County, Iowa, where they lived for a few years when they moved to Brown County, S. D., where the deceased resided with her parents until, 1883, when she was united in marriage with Charles Hyde, Dec. 19, 1883. In 1884 the young couple moved onto a farm in Floyd County, Iowa, and in 1887 they moved to Sanborn, which place has been their home for the past forty-eight years.

This union was blessed with, three children: Ray, of Sioux Falls, S. Dak and Bertha and Roy, who died in infancy. There were three sisters and one brother, of whom only two sisters survive: Mrs. Thomas Shoemaker, Marshalltown, Iowa, and Mrs. Frank Kennedy of Los Angeles, California.

Mrs. Hyde was a loyal and faithful member of the Presbyterian Church and of the Helping Hand Socieiy and of the Missionary Society. She was also a member of the Eastern Star lodge of Sanborn.

Although it was known that Mrs. Hyde was suffering much pain during the last weeks ol her illness, much of which, none but she, herself, knew. She did not allow that to detract her interest from her church or her family. She was especially, solicitous for her husband whose health has been broken for some time. For over fifty years they had traveled down life's road together. Mrs. Hyde was never pretentious in her acts of benevolences and charity, but was always among the first to help when the call came. Many times she would ask that her name not be mentioned when asked for help. She was a good neighbor a faithful wife, a true friend, a devoted christian, and it can be said of her by those who knew her best, that, "She hath done what she could."

She leaves to mourn their great loss: the faithful husband, Raymond; the only child left, Ray Hyde, two grandchildren, Raymond, Jr. and Elizabeth Hyde; and her two sisters, besides other relatives and a host of friends. Mrs. Hyde will bo greatly missed in the home. In the church and in the community.

Funeral services were held from the Presbyterian Church at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon with the pastor, Rev A. C. Grafton, officiating. He was assisted in the services by a mixed quartette, composed of Mrs. R. H Leonard, Edward Huibretse and Mr and) Mrs. Ellis Miller, who sang "When They Ring the Golden Bellfor You." "No Night There" and "In The Garden," accompained at the piano by Miss Dorothy Grafton. Tht floral offerings were many and beautiful attesting the high esteem the deceased was held in the comimumity ol which she had been a part for the past forty-eight years. Acting as pall bearers were: G. W. Harges, G. S. Molvin, Chas. Getting, E. W. Mayne, F. W. Hurlbut and John Blahauvietz, who bore the body to its last resting place in the family lot in Roseland Cemetery. Her son, Ray and wife of Ellis, S Dak., were here to attend the funeral. Other relatives from a distance were unablo to come.
