Susan A. (Byers) Ahrenstorff (1893-1976)

Susan A. Ahrenstorff, nee Byers, the daughter of John and Susan Wilson Byers, was born January 24, 1893 on a farm north of Hartley, Iowa. She was educated in schools near her childhood home.

She was united in marriage to Emil Ahrenstorff at Hartley on June 2, 1915. They made their home on a farm near Hartley until moving into town in 1968. She was a member of the United jMethodist Church of Hartley, its women's society and the Rebekah Circle.

She passed away at the Community Memorial Hospital in Hartley on October 29, 1976 at the age of 83.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Emil in 1971, three brothers and five sisters. Left to cherish her memory are one brother, James Byers and his wife Ruth of Hartley; three other sisters-in-law, Hattie Albright and "Dora" Ahrenstorff, both of HartJey, and Mrs. John (Wilma) Patterson of Forsyth, Missouri, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 1, 1976 for Susie Ahrenstorff at the United Methodist Church at Hartley. Rev. Lester Hancock officiated. The casket bearers were Dennis Ahrenstorff, Rodney Ahrenstorff, Gale Vetter, Robert Ahrenstorff, Randy Ahrenstorff and Joe Schipoff. Burial was at the Pleasant View Cemetery at Hartley with the Baumgarten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
