Edward Robert Peters, the son of Charles and Minnie Kiehl Peters, was born June 15, 1903 in O'Brien County, Iowa, and passed into eternal life on June 8, 1961 at Hartley, at the age of 57 years, 11 months and 24 days.

He had been critically ill for only a short time preceding his death, but had been in failing health for about a year. He had resided in northwest Iowa most of his life, having spent only a few years in Arkansas during his childhood. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, and was a members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Hartley.

On December 22, 1951 he was united in marriage to Leverna Buchholz Muilenburg.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one step-grandson.

Survivors include his wife, Leverna, four step-children: Mavis, (Mrs. Duane Richard) of Hartley, Lucille (Mrs. Lloyd Busse) of Milford, Betty, (Mrs. Max Wetherell) of Peterson, and Clifford Muilenburg of Everly, six step-grandchildren: Randall and Roxann Richard, Debra and. Terry Busse, and Robert and Rodney Wetherell; six brothers and two sisters: Rosella (Mrs. Everett Stone) of Webb. Iowa, Minnie (Mrs. Al Duis) of Harris, Iowa, William Peters of Gillette Grove, Iowa, Harry Peters of Webb, Iowa, Ernie Peters of Bingham Lake Peters of Lake Park, Iowa, Fred Peters and Robert Peters, both of Hartley, besides many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Memorial services were held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Monday afternoon, the Rev. A. OBleeke officiating. A. C. Hoper, soloist, sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Nearer My God to Thee", accompanied by Mrs. Cloy Hirt, organist. Pall bearers were Walter Kruger, Lyle Shinkle, Cletus Dornbuseh, Henry Fahrenkrog, Wilbur Wacker and Gilbert Rinck. Mrs. Paul Zinn and Mrs. Emil Lux were charge of the flowers. Interment was in the Pleasant View Cemetery, with Baumgarten Funeral Home in charge.
