Sophia Wittrock Klink (1885-1971)

Sophia Wittrock Klink, daughter of John and Anna Wittrock, was born September 12, 1885 at Eddilak Germany, and passed away at her home Friday, Dec. 10 at the age of 86 years, two months and 28 days.

She came to this country with her parents at the age of six. The family settled near Sutherland, Ia., and a year later moved to a farm near Gaza. In 1894 the Wittrocks moved to a farm in Dale Township.

Sophia Wittrock was married on Feb 25, 1906 to Albert F. Klink. They lived on the same farm in Dale Township for 40 years, retiring in 1946.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, and in 929 became a member of the Congregational Church of Primghar.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert in March, 1957; one infant son; two sisters; and six brothers.

Survivors include the five children: Ethel (Mrs. Henry Rohwer) of Paullina, Ruther (Mrs. Lloyd Borland) of Primghar, Mrs. Viola Lasher of Grand Rapids, Mich., Gladys, (Mrs. Leo Reimann) and Harold Klink, both of Primghar; 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; one brother Hugo Wittrock of Primghar; numerous relatives and many cherished friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, Dec 13, 1971 at 1:30 p.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Primghar, for Sophia M. Klink. Rev. John Saxton officiated. Pallbearers were grandsons, Karl Klink, James Reimann, Glen Borland, Bruce Preston, Kenneth Wulf and Ronald Reimann. Hymns 'How Great Thou Art." and "My Task" were sung by Mrs. Dale Craun and Mrs. Rod Wilbeck, accompanied by Mrs. Don Kammerer. Robert Nicholson was chauffeur. Interment was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Primghar.
