This community was greatly shocked Saturday by a message announcing the death of Mrs. A.H. Holland [nee Luella Vale], at Chicago, where she went to have an operation performed. The news cast a gloom over the entire community as the deceased was most highly esteemed by this people.

Mr. Holland took the Saturday p.m. passenger for Chicago, but ere he reached that city the noble wife and mother hand passed from this life into that better one which awaits those who live a Christian life.

The remains arrived from Chicago on the west bound train Tuesday morning and was interred in the Hartley cemetery. The platform and depot were crowded with sympathizing friends long before the arrival of the train. The funeral was held from the depot, the procession forming and, going immediately to the grave, where the services were held, conducted by Rev. Ginn.

Deceased was well known and seldom, if ever, have we heard so many words of praise from so many persons as on this occasion. She was a member of the Methodist church, and exemplary Christian and leaves a memory which is like ointment poured forth. The entire community sympathises with the stricken ones in their bereavement and prays that "He who is touched with all the feeling of our infirmities" may minister peace to their hearts.

Deceased was a sister of Mrs. Dr. D.T. Stewart, of this city, and leaves two children, one a girl of about ten and the other a boy of five, who will deeply feel the blow, as a kinder and more thoughtful mother never presided over a home.
