Minnie Meehlhause

Services in memory of Minnie Meehlhause were held 10:30 a.m. Saturday. July 27. 1991. at Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley. Rev. K. Stokes Snyder officiated. Casket bearers were Gary Meehlhause, Donald Stoterau. Mike Stoterau. Donald Frick, Roger Frick and Verlin Endorf. Honorary casket attendants were Merle Fredericks, Orland Fredericks, Melvern Fredericks, Wilbert Fredericks, Lynn Endorf and Dennis Endorf. Committal service was in Pleasant View Cemetery in Hartley, with Baumgarten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Minnie Lisetta Meehlhause, the daughter of Conrad and Mary Goeble Endorf. was born November 7, 1903, near Plessis, Iowa. She was educated in the country schools near her childhood home in OBrien County, although in her early years she lived for two years at Mobridge. South Dakota.

She was united in marriage to John Henry Meehlhause at Spencer, Iowa, on June 28, 1922. Four children were born to this union, all surviving. Minnie was a devoted wife and homemaker. Her children were her blessings, and her hobbies were making things for her home.

She was an active member of the Legion Auxiliary for many years, and also a member of Trinity United Church of Christ. She and her husband farmed until 1948, when they moved to Spirit Lake. In 1955, they moved to Denver, Colorado, where they owned and operated a motel. In August of 1959, her husband passed away. She then moved back to Hartley in 1961. then on to Algona, by her son Martin. In 1982 she went back to Denver for two years, returning to Hartley in 1984. She had been a resident of the Wellness Center since December of 1989. While in Algona, she had been a member of the Presbyterian Church.

She passed away at Hartley on July 22, 1991. at the age of 87 years. 8 months and 15 days.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, three brothers. Raymond. Herbert and Walter, one sister, Lillie, and five grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters and their husbands, Lolene and Orval Petersen of Commerce City, Colorado, and Joann and Charles Lincoln of Apple Valley, California; two sons and their wives, Marlin and Ruth of Weslaco, Texas, and Orwin and Carol of Denver. Colorado: 12 grandchildren. 13 great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter: many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
