G. C. Gallup Died Sunday

G. C. Gallup, long time resident of Sanborn, passed away Sunday morning at his home here after suffering a stroke the Monday before. He had been at Ocheyedan, where one of his well drilling outfits were making a well for the town, when he was striken.

Gilbert Charles Gallup, son of Porter and Mary Ann Gallup, was born January 7, 1872 at Fairbank, Iowa and was 79 years of age at the time of his passing. He came to O'Brien county at the ago of 18. He worked out and made his home with a sister and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. John Green.

On November 18, 1896, Mr, Gallup wag unitcd in marriage with Edith Patton at Sanborn. Except, for five years in Ocheyedan and a few months in Minnesota, they have always lived in,Sanborn. Four years ago they had enjoyed celebrating their Golden Wedding.

Mr. Gallup engaged in the real estate business and later did well drilling.

Three children wore born to Mr. and Mrs. Gallup: Weldon, of Sanborn and twin girls, who died at birth.

He is survived by his wife, his son, one grandson, James Gallup, and one great grandson, all of Sanborn; one brother, Ernest, of Titonka, Iowa, and one sister, Mrs. Margaret Damage [sic] of Waterloo.

Preceding him in death, besides his two daughters were three brothers, Albert, Porter, and one in infancy, and one sister, Emma, Mrs. John Green.

Mr. Gallup was a member of St. Andrews Methodist Church and of the Odd Fellows lodge.

Funeral services were Wednesday afternoon, March 14, in the Sanborn Funeral Home with Rev. S.J. Baldwin conducting the services. Burial was in Roseland Cemetery.
