Margaret Denny

Funeral services in memory of Margaret Denny were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, October 16, 1997, at Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley. Rev. Milo Sheldon officiated. Casket bearers were Thomas Manley, Bruce Denny, Perry Philiph, Dan Lorch, Matthew Denny and Brian Denny. Interment was in Pleasant View Cemetery in Hartley. Warner-Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Margaret Denny, the daughter of Jacob and Hulda Kruger Baumeister, was born August 31, 1899, in rural Hartley, and it was in the country schools around Hartley that she received her education.

On March 14, 1923, Margaret married Coray Denny in Spencer, and following their marriage they made their home in the Hartley area. While living in the Hartley area, she was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ. She loved gardening and at the age of 92, she still was able to have her own garden. She also enjoyed crocheting and needlepoint work. Margaret loved her family very much and enjoyed seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren for they gave her much love and enjoyment.

In 1992, she moved to the Wellness Center in Hartley. On Monday, October 13, 1997, Margaret passed away at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley, at the age of 98.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and seven brothers and sisters. Margaret is survived by two sons and their wives: Donald and Jean Denny, and Gilbert and Donna Denny, all of Hartley; two daughters and their husbands: Ruth and Willard Philiph of Hartley, and Jane and David Lorch of Harris; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and friends.
