Arlene Boetel

Funeral services in memory of Arlene Lena Tewes Boetel were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 1995 at Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley. Rev. Milo Sheldon officiated. Casket bearers were Jeremy Tewes, Aaron Tewes, Brian Tewes, Sandra Schoenrock, Misti Wohlert and Brandon Schueder. Honorary bearers were Tara Tewes, Leah Tewes and Donald Nielsen. Interment was in Pleasant View Cemetery of Hartley. Warner-Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Arlene Lena Boetel, daughter of Emil and Ella Back Struve, was born October 12, 1926, in Clay County, Iowa and it was in country schools she received her education. She later graduated from Moneta High School in 1946.

Arlene married Lawrence Tewes on December 31, 1947 in Hartley, Iowa. Much of their married life was spent in the counties of O'Brien and Clay, where he farmed. Mr. Tewes passed away in 1973.

Arlene married Adolph Frederick Boetel on October 18, 1979 in Sutherland. Since their marriage, they have made their home in Hartley where Arlene was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ.

Mrs. Boetel passed away January 11, 1995 at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley at the age of 68.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; one daughter, Mariann Tewes; two grandchildren, Christine and Paul Schoenrock; and one step-son, Gordon Boetel.

Arlene is survived by her husband, Adolph of Hartley; four daughters and their husbands: Mavis and Leonard Schoenrock of Hawarden, Maxine and Roy Wohlert of Hartley, Marilyn and Tom Schueder of Peterson, Marsha and Mark Johnson of Sutherland; two sons and their wives, Lester and Shirley Tewes and Loren and Sharon Tewes, all of Sutherland; eight grandchildren; one brother, Delmar Struve of Everly; one sister, Phyllis Mrs. Richard Hoist of Everly; eight step-children; numerous step-grand and great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
