SERVICES FOR LIFETIME RESIDENT

Funeral services were held Monday, January 25 for Nellie Tewes. Rev. Bernard Sayler officiated at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley. Casket bearers were Bruce Tewes, Larry Tewes, Joel Tewes, Brent Tewes, Mark Tewes, Kevin Tewes, Eddie Harders and Lanny Richter. Burial was at the Pleasant View Cemetery at Hartley, with the Baumgarten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Nellie Anna Tewes, the daughter of Jacob and Hilda Kruger Baumeister, was born August 31, 1896 at Hartley, Iowa and was a lifetime resident.

She was united in marriage to Ernest Tewes at Hartley on June 2, 1915 and they became the parents of fifteen children. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ at Hartley. She had been a resident of the Mann Wing for the last seven years and it was there she passed away on January 20, 1982 at the age of 85.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, one sister, one brother, one son, Lawrence, an infant daughter, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two sons-in-law.

Left to cherish her memory are eight sons and their wives, Harlan and Evelyn, Marvin and Ruth, Lester and Dorothy and Eldon and Linda, all of Hartley; Delmar and Ruth of Royal, Orville and Marlys of Paullina, Arlo and Harriet of Primghar, and Roger and Kay of Larrabee; five daughters, Mrs. Arlene Haiders, Mrs. Marjorie Petersen, Mrs. Darrel (Mildred) Hennings and Mrs. Harold (Marlene) Wills, all of Hartley and Mrs. Marlyn (Norma) Richter of Granville; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Denny and Mrs. Helen Nellis, both of Hartley; three brothers, Henry of Hartley, Gerald of Primghar and Robert of Fort Wayne, Indiana; forty-seven grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
