ZENNA DE BOOM 1914 — 2007

Zenna Katherine (Meylink) DeBoom. the daughter of William and Kate (Sawyer) Meylink. was born on May 21. 1914 in Carmel, IA. She started school In Prlmghar. before her family moved to Sanborn. She graduated from Sanborn High School and was proud to have been Valedictorian of her class From an early age she enjoyed teaching. In her teens, she taught Sunday school at both the Methodist and the First Re formed Church in Sanborn She later taught in country schools near Sutherland

On October 24. 1935 she was united in marriage to William DeBoom in Sanborn. Her greatest Joy came from spending time with William and their children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren She especially enjoyed summers when they worked and played together She was known for her many handmade quilts which she shared with her family She loved working in her garden and flowers when she was able She canned or froze hundreds of pints and quarts of her homegrown foods She was even canning pickles and applesauce in the years after her 90th birthday There will never again be such delicious pickles. She enjoyed playing 500 and Bridge and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan Through the years she had been an active member of the Women's Association of both the Sanborn Reformed Church and the American Reformed Church in Primghar She served as Women's County Chairman of the O Brien County Farm Bureau and was active in the Primghar Women's Club

She died May 30, 2007 at the age of 93 years, nine days.

She is survived by her husband. William, one son. Bill (Sherri) of Orange City, nine grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren, a brother. Milo Meylink of Long Beach. CA. sisters-ln law Elaine and Jeanette Meylink. both of CA. numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter. Alice Kae, and a son, David Paul, one grandchild, one great-grandchild, two brothers. Donald and George.

Funeral services were held June 2. 2007 at the First Reformed Church in Sanborn with Rev Gary Hegstad officiating. Casketbearers were Russ Krull. Greg Etherlngton. Tim DeBoom. Larry Jamison. Chase Anderson. Fred Kurth. Richard Verdom. Scott Swartz and David Sawchuk. Sherri DeBoom and Betsle Swartz sang "Grace Is Greater Than All My Sin Congregational hymns were "Standing on the Promises." Tell Me the Old. Old Story,". There's a Fountain." and "How Great Thou Art" Arlene Dykstra was organist. Burial was In Roseland Cemetery Sanborn, with the Sanborn Funeral Home in charge.
