WILLIAM H. SELKEN

William Henry Selken, the son of William and Martha Numsen Selken, was born near Remsen, Iowa, on May 26, 1898. He entered into eternal life on January 8, 1964 at Hartley, Iowa, following a short hospitalization. He had reached the age of 65 years, seven months and 13 days.

Most of his lifetime had been spent in this community, and it was near here that he attended the rural schools of O'Brien County. He came here at the age of 4 and resided on farms in this area until retirement in 1947.

He was married to Lillie Frick on September 8, 1920 at the home of her parents in Hartley. Since their retirement from farming, they had lived in Hartley. He was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ here.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his sister, Amanda, and two brothers, John and Carl.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lillie, and one sister, Mrs. Henrietta Krutzfeldt of Hartley, several nieces and nephews, and a great many friends.

Services were held Saturday, January 11, at 1:30 p.m. in the Trinity United Church of Christ with Rev. R. G. Beck officiating. Pallbearers were Orland Krutzfeldt, Everett Selken, Edwin H. Miller. Eldred Frick, Vertus Frick, and Delmar Miller. Interment was made at Pleasant View Cemetery, Hartley.
