SERVICES HELD FOR DOROTHEA DUNN

Funeral services for Dorothea Dunn were held Tuesday, September 6, 10:30 a.m. at the Hartley United Methodist Church. Rev. Clair Kerns officiated. Burial was at the Pleasant View Cemetery, Hartley, with the Baumgarten Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Casket bearers were Merle Groff, Ervin Griese, Virgil Treimer, Carl Ruby, Jim Hesse and Bill Hesse.

Dorothea Ida Dunn passed away the morning of September 3, 1983 at the Mann Wing of the Hartley Community Memorial Hospital. She was ninety and until June of this year had lived at 530 W. Maple Drive.

Mrs. Dunn was born to Henry and Mary Hesse on March 27, 1893 in Minonka, Illinois. She came to Hartley where she graduated from Hartley High School and attended Cedar Rapids College for two years.

She taught school in Eldora, Iowa until she married Everett W. Dunn on February 26, 1916 in Hartley. The Dunns lived in Sioux City for many years before retiring to Hartley in 1956. They had four children.

Mrs. Dunn was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hartley, the P.E.O. Sisterhood, the Order of Eastern Star and the Tuesday Study Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett; a daughter, Dorothy J. Vandenbrock, and two brothers, Gay and Will.

Survivors include a son, James E. Dunn of Des Moines, two daughters, Mary Louise Bartels of Mankato, Minnesota, and Lois Anne Jubenville of St. Louis Park, Minnesota. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
