SERVICES FOR EVERETT DUNN HELD MONDAY

Funeral services in memory of Everett W. Dunn were held at the United Methodist Church in Hartley Monday morning, October 6. Rev. William Tomlinson was the officiating clergy­man. The casket bearers were James Hesse, LeRoy Hesse. Don Treimer, Will Hesse, Myrl Groff and Erwin Griese. Burial was at the Pleasant View Cemetery at Hartley with the Baumgarten Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Everett Wesley Dunn, the son of Moncena and Lois Woodward Dunn, was born August 1. 1892 at Summit, S.D. He graduated from high school in Minne­apolis and then attended South Dakota State College at Brookings, S.D. grad­uating with a degree in Civil Engineer­ing in 1913.

He was united in marriage to Dorothea Hesse at Hartley on February 26, 1916. They lived at Eldora where he was County Engineer and then moved to Sioux City, where he was a District Highway Engineer for the State of Iowa until 1941. He was self-employed as a consulting engineer for many years and since 1946 had lived at Hartley.

As an engineer, he was employed or was a consultant for: The U.S. Wage Adjust­ment board 1944-1946, the Industry Stabilization Commission 1950-1952, a plutonium plant in Portsmouth, Ohio 1952-1953 and a special consultant for the Atomic Energy Comm., Nevada proving grounds, 1964-1967.

He was a member of the Morningside Masonic Lodge #615 AF and AM, the United Methodist Church at Hartley, the National Society of Professional Engi­neers, the Iowa Engineering Society, Chi Epsilon, Tau Beta Pi.

He passed away at the Mann Wing in Hartley on October 3, 1980 at the age of 88 years.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one daughter, Mrs. Clare (Dorothy) Vandenbroek and one brother, Wendell.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Dorothea: two daughters, Mrs. Mary Bartlet of Mankato and Mrs. Lois Ann Jubenville of Minneapolis; one son James and his wife Beverly Dunn of Des Moines; ten grandchildren, nine great-­grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
