Emory L. Muilenburg

Services in memory of Emory L. Muilenburg were held Thursday, Oc­tober 30, 1997, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hartley. Pas­tor David Ericksen officiated. Casket bearers were Jim Cochran, Curtis Gonnerman, Richard Muilen­burg, Mark Meyer, LeRoy Steffans and Tim Hoest. Honorary casket bearer was Shelley Hjelm. Military graveside services were conducted by Hartley American Legion Post No. 288. Interment was in Pleasant View Cemetery of Hartley. Sanborn Funeral Home was in charge of the ar­rangements.

Emory Lyle Muilenburg, the son of Issac and Alice (Walters) Muilen­burg, was born near Melvin, Iowa on January 15, 1935. He lived his youth in the Melvin and Hartley areas, and Emory was a graduate of Hart­ley High School. He served his country in the United States Army from December, 1955 until December, 1958.

He was united in marriage to JoAnn LaBarge on August 1, 1959 at Hartley. Their married lifetime was spent in the Hartley area where Emory was a laborer.

JoAnn died on December 12, 1963. Emory had been em­ployed by the Brinkert family for the past 20 years.

He died at his home in Hartley on October 27,1997. Emory is survived by his children: Karee Muilenburg of Spencer, Gaye and Mark Meyer of Wichita, Kansas, and Kendy and Jim Cochran of De­catur, Illinois; his grandchildren: Emily, Patrick, Kylie, Koleton, Natasha and Kaleb; one brother, Earl of Hartley; two sisters: Violet Anderson of Omaha, Nebraska, and Betty Gonnerman of Estherville; other relatives and a host of friends.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Hartley. Emory enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
