Services in memory of Raymond George Reinke were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 7, 2004, at the Hartley United Methodist Church in Hartley, Iowa. Rev. Mike Wilier officiated. Flag presentation was made by Arthur W. Kirchhoff Post #288 of Hartley. Interment will be held at a later date in Pleasant View Cemetery in Hartley. Warner Funeral Home of Hartley was in charge of the arrangements.

Raymond George Reinke, the son of George and Idella Knau Reinke, was born February 12, 1910, in Hartley, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Geneva, Iowa, and later in Hartley where he completed his education.

On August 29, 1938, Raymond married Luella Meehlhause in Hartley and following their marriage, they lived in Hartley where he owned and operated Reinke Body Shop for 21 years.

Ray entered the U.S. Army on July 21, 1943, and served his country during World War II until the time of his honorable discharge on December 30, 1943 at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. After his discharge, he returned to Hartley where he was a member of the United Methodist Church and the American Legion Arthur W. Kirchhoff Post #288 in Hartley.

In his spare time, Ray enjoyed woodworking. After spending 16 winters in Arizona, Ray and Luella moved to "Homestead" in Spirit Lake, Iowa.

Mr. Reinke passed away at the Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake, Iowa on Monday, February 2, 2004, at the age of 93.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Dorothy Steen; and two brothers: Donald and Glenn.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Luella of Spirit Lake; one daughter, Beverly and her husband, Donald Glaser of St. Paul, Minnesota; two grandchildren: Sonya Glaser and Debra Lillebaugen and her husband, Bryan of St. Paul, Minnesota; two great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Eric Lillehangen; one sister, Edith Reinke of Spencer, Iowa; two sisters-in-law: Dorothea Reinke of San Diego, California; other relatives and friends.
