RUDOLPH MEEHLHAUSE

Rudolph Meehlhause, the son of John and Maria Schitzef Meehlhause, was born at Dysart, Iowa, in Benton County on December 26, 1884. He passed away suddenly at the home of a daughter in Sheldon, Iowa, while celebrating his 87th birthday. He came to the Hartley area as a young man and farmed for a time before moving to town in 1929 where he was employed by the Hartley Creamery until his retirement in 1960. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.

He married Anna Elizabeth Werner at Hartley on January 28, 1914 and to this union were born four daughters. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and three sisters.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife; and four daughters, Luella, Mrs. Raymond Reinke, of Hartley; Irene, Mrs. Robert Voss and Faye, Mrs. Leo Groen, both of Sheldon; and Betty, Mrs. Donald Rembe of Primghar; seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

Memorial services were held December 28, 1971 at the Unit­ed Methodist Church at Hartley, with Rev. Keith Scott officiating. -The pallbearers were Donald Glaser, Donald Nelson, Jr., Kenneth Groen, Bradley Thorn, Alan Groen and Kevin Groen. Interment was at Pleasant View Cemetery, Hartley, with Baumgarten Funeral Home in charge.
