An ailment which he first noticed more than five years ago resulted last Sunday morning, February 15, in the death of John Bobzein, at the age of 69 years, 1 month and 10 days.

He passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Wagner, of Sanborn, who since the death of Mrs. Bobzien on May 2, last year, has shared the care of this invalid father with her sister, Mrs. Martin Decker, of Hartley.

John Frederick Theodore Bobzien was the son of Frederick Bobzien and his wife, Dorothea, nee, Possehl. He was born January 5, 1873, on a farm near Watkins, in Benton county, Iowa Baptized in his infancy, he was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in St. Martin's church near Watkins, Iowa, on April 18, 1886. He remained a loyal Lutheran all his life.

Following his marriage on February 23, 1899, to Miss Emma Kruse, of Clay Township, Clay county, the deceased came to this vicinity in the spring of the year 1901. The following year he purchased a farm in Lincoln township, 6 miles northwest of Hartley, which remained the family home until illness compelled his retirement in the year 1937, when he moved to his newly built home in the town of Hartley.

Four children were born to the Bobzien union: Glen Bobzien, who departed this life on June 26, 1936; Neva Bobzien Decker and Clarence Bobzien, of Hartley; and Esther Bobzien Wagner, of Sanborn.
