Services in memory of Orlin Harry Fahrenkrog were conducted at 1030 a.m. Friday. October 23. 1992 at Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley. Rev. K. Stokes Snyder officiated. Casket bearers were Chuck Stoneking. Audley DeCraaf Carl Puhrmann, Blaine Johnson. Keith Jacobs and Shelley Westphalen. Honorary casket attendants were Donald Hansen. Bruce Boyer, Harlan Goetsch and Bob O'Brien. Committal service was in Pleasant View Cemetery in Hartley. Military Services were conducted by the American Legion, and Masonic Services were conducted by the Masonic Lodge. Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Orlin Harry Fahrenkrog. the son of Harry and Elnora Stoterau Fahrenkrog, was born January 16. 1923, at Hartley. Iowa. He graduated from Hartley High School in 1941. He entered military service on March 31. 1943. at Camp Dodge, Iowa, and served as a PFC in the 558th Signal Aircraft Warning Battalion, Army Air Corps. His overseas duty was in the China, Burma and India Theater from October 22, 1944, until March, 1946, with the 501st Signal A.W. Battalion attached to the 10th Air Force. He received his Honorable Discharge on March 15. 1946, at the Separation Center in Fort Leavenworth. Kansas.

He was united in marriage to Lila Daniels on June 18. 1949. at Havelock. Iowa. They resided in Hartley where Orlin worked for the Post Office as a letter carrier for 28 years. He retired in 1978.

Orlin was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ where he was on the Sunday School Board, was a youth leader with Junior Fellowship, was six years on Consistory, and President two years. He was also a member of the American Legion, Beacon Lodge AF & AM, Eastern Star. Grand Cross. He served as Master of the Lodge and Worthy Patron of the Star for two years, and he was the Rainbow Dad for two years.

He passed away at Sioux Falls on October 20. 1992. at the age of 69. Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Rolin. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lila; two daughters and their husbands: Carolyn and Terry Smith of Minneapolis. Minnesota, and Marcy and Scott Nelson of St. Simon's Island, Georgia; six grandchildren: [redacted]; one sister, Mrs. Merle (Corene) Wacker of Fridley, Minnesota; as well as other relatives and many friends.
