The bucket struck and crushed him to death as it fell 25 feet into the sewage disposal pit being built, and in which the victim and two other men were working. His two co-workers were not injured.

Survivors are his wife Arlen, three daughters, Kimberly Kay, Gwen and Brenda; two brothers, Randall of Alta and Delbert of Moorland; a sister, Mrs. Darrel Rehder of Aurelia, and his father, Oliver Ginger of Spencer. His mother, Mrs. Ella Ginger, died two years ago.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 11, at the Faith Lutheran church in Marcus. There will be a family prayer service at 11 a.m. followed by the services at 1:30 p.m. conducted by Rev. Calvin Rossman of Marcus and Rev. Fred Elze of Sutherland. Boothby Funeral Home of Cherokee is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be at Oak Hill cemetery at Cherokee.

The Ginger Family moved to Sutherland in January of this year and have been living southeast of town the past nine months. Since May of this year Dale has been employed by the Hawkins Construction company, working at Cherokee. Born at Webb, Iowa, he spent his boyhood in the Sutherland and Calumet communities.
