Mrs. W.T. Winn passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Geo. Simpson, at Merrill. Saturday morning, August 18. The family were all present at the last as they had been during the long sickness. The end came as a relief from months of terrible suffering from cancer.

The service was held at the house of the daughter at 9 o'clock Tuesday and the church funeral service at the local Methodist Church at 6 o'clock in the evening. As the sun was setting the body of one of the pioneers of O'Brien County was lowered into the grave. The service was in charge of Rev. Arthur Schmidt.

Elizabeth L. Haines was born at Zanesville, Ohio, the daughter of Samuel and Ann B. Haines. At the age of six years, she moved with her parents in a covered wagon to eastern Iowa. There she grew to womanhood and on September, 1874, was married to W.T. Winn at Independence, Iowa.

Of her four children, all are left to mourn her loss and were with her at the time of her death. Namely Mrs. F. V. Fountain of Chicago, Mrs. Geo Simpson of Merrill, Miss Maye Winn of Paullina and Paul DeRoy Winn of Chicago. She is also survived by two sisters and one brother: Mrs. H.B. Whitney of Hastings, Nebraska, Mrs. Lucy Potter of Sheldon and Mr. W.A. Haines of Rowley.

The family moved to O'Brien County in 1882 where the family home has been up to the present time. Her husband preceded her in death, passing away October 31, 1919.
