Funeral Services Wednesday P.M.
Was on of the Early Settlers Of The county, Locating here in Spring of 1881

Sunday evening, Debruary 10, at the hour of 10:00 o'clock, on the evening of his fifty-second wedding anniversary, the soul of Adoph Theodor Bock freed itself from the limitations of this world and passed on to that haven from which no traveler ever returned, leaving to mourn his daparture his widow, Mrs, Alvina Katrina, Bock, the bried of fifty-two years, and his sons, Henry and John of Paullina and daughters, Mrs. Alma Gaudian of Holland, Minn., and Mrs. Lulu Curran of Hawarden, Iowa.

The passing of A. Bock brings feelings of real sorrow to the entir community for he was known to all, highly respected and esteemed as a citizen and greatly beloved by those who knew him best. He was a man of a strong distinct character. His ideals of integrity rectitude and thrift were of the highest order. He was a man who wore the rough side of his life on the exterior keeping more hidden the beauty of his nature for he inspected it and endearment of his close friends.

A good neighbor and fellow townsman with a helping hand and a congenial smile was the deceased at all times. He was an honored member of the Masonic and Yeoman lodges. His Masonic membership was with Fulton Lodge No. 499 of Paullina and the Sioux City consistory, which gave him rank of 32nd degree Mason.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 at the home and at two o'clock at the Methodist church. At the church Rev. Robinson conducted the usual funeral service which was followed by the Masonic services in charge of Fulton Lodg No. 499 of Paullina. Interment was at Prairie View cemetery.

Adolph Theodore Bock was born September 13, 1845 at Harmsdorf, Holstein, Germany, this having attained the age of seventy-eight years, four months and twenty-eight days at the time of his death. At the age of twenty-four he came to this country, locating at Davenport, Ia. While living at Davenport he met and married Alvina Katrina Guhn, the wedding taking place on Saturday, February 10, 1872.

To this happy union nine children were born, two sons and two daughters dieing in infancy and one daughter, Ella, Mrs. James Jennings, passing away a little more than two years ago.

The widow and four children, two sons, Henry and John of Paullina, and two daughters, Mrs. Alma Gaudian of Holland, Minn., and Mrs. Lulu Curran of Hawarden, Ia., survive to mourn the death of a devoted husband and father.

The deceased was one of the early settlers in these parts, coming her with his good wife in April 1881. Their first home was established on a farm two miles south of Primghar which they farmed a few years, when they bought a 240 acre tract of land two miles south of Paullina. This place was the family home until 1897 when the place was sold and the family moved to Paullina. After moving to town the deceased bought out the hardwae business owned by A. Hansen, which business he continued in until his death last Sabbath day.
