Funeral services in memory of Leland Pohlmann were held at the Trinity United Church of Christ at Hartley,Iowa on Tuesday, May 4 at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Bernard Sayler officiated.

Honorary casket attendants were Henry Wieditz, John Brandt, Hobart Putnam, Wm. Hesse, Warren Houston and Martin Sonksen.

Casket bearers were Carl Ruby, Orlin Hein, Rudy Petersen, Marvin Strampe, Merle Vogt and Robert Linder.

Masonic services were conducted by Beacon Lodge #495 AF and AM, Bill Ferguson, Worshipful Master.

Interment was at the Pleasant View Cemetery, Hartley, Iowa, with the Baumgarten Funeral Home in charge.

Leland Frank Pohlmann, the son of Fred and Ida Dunker Pohlmann, was born March 26, 1893, at Van Horne, Iowa. He attended the public schools there, including Van Horne High School. He moved to the Hartley area in 1910, and had lived here since that time. He had farmed in this community until 1965 and remained on the farm until 1973, at which time he moved into town.

He was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #288 by virtue of his service to our country during World War I. He enlisted in September of 1917, and was honorably discharged in January of 1919. He had served as Post Commander in 1925. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.

He was united in marriage on October 27, 1917, to Mary C. Stoterau, at Spencer, Iowa. To them were born two children; Earl, now of Pella, Iowa and Mary Jean (Mrs. Robert Ford) of Sioux City. Besides his wife and children, he is survived by five grandchildren and his many friends.

He passed away on May 1, 1976 at the Hartley Hospital, having attained the age of 83 years, one month and five days. Preceding him in death were his parents and three brothers.
