Funeral services in memory of Clarence K. Jipp were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 13, 2000, at the Hartley United Methodist Church in Hartley, Iowa. Rev. Milo Sheldon officiated.
Casket bearers were Jerry Scharnberg, Randy Jipp, Greg Paulsen, Lester Paulsen, William Treimer and David Treimer. Military Graveside Services were conducted by Arthur W. Kirchhoff Post No. 288, American Legion of Hartley. Interment was in Pleasant View Cemetery in Hartley. Sanborn Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Clarence Krebs Jipp, the eldest son of Herman and Minnie (Krebs) Jipp, was born on a farm northeast of Hartley on March 16, 1915. After his father's death in May 1921, his mother with her three sons moved to the town of Hartley where he received his education. Clarence was a baptized and confirmed member of Trinity United Church of Christ and later transferred his membership to the United Methodist Church. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II in the Philippine Islands.
Clarence was united in marriage to Bertha Emma Seydell at Sioux City, Iowa on August 29, 1940. During his lifetime he had been employed at the Hartley Creamery, Sorensen's ditching and tiling, and as a custodian at the Methodist Church. He died at the Mann Nursing Wing on November 10, 2000.
Left to mourn his passing are his two brothers and sisters-in-law; Alvin and Gladys of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Raymond and Leona of Jacksonville, Florida; a sister-in-law, Mina Jipp of Hartley, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bertha, in 1992; his brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Martha Jipp.
Clarence was a faithful member of the Hartley United Methodist Church and the Hartley American Legion.
He always enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and playing cards.
