Orlynn F. Stampe, the son of Fred H. and Amanda Pauling Strampe, was born October 2, 1926, on the family farm in Caledonia Township, O'Brien County, Iowa. He received his education at St. John's Lutheran School and later graduated for Paullina High School in 1944, He was called into service serving with the Army in the Korean Conflict.
On March 1, 1954, he was united in marriage to Luella Stange at St. Paul Lutheran Church in rural Hull, Iowa. After their marriage, the couple farmed east of Germantown until his retirement in 1996. He had been a resident at Wide View Home in Paullina since January of 1998. He passed away at Wide View on Monday, August 10, 1998 , reaching the age of 71 years, 10 months, and 8 days.
He was baptized on October 17, 196 and later confirmed o June 5, 1940, and was a life-long member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Germantown. He also served the church as an elder and a Trustee. He was a member of the Russell West Post of the American Legion of Paullina and had been a past Commander, a member of the Germantown Fire Department, having served as Chief and enjoyed frying pancakes with the fire department. He had also served as Director of the Paullina Elevator.
Orlynn leaves to cherish his memory his wife Luella of Paullina, one daughter, Jeanette and her husband Doyle Wissink of Hull, Iowa and one son, Wayne and his friend Darla Hohbach of Germantown, Iowa, seven grandchildren Amber, Justin, Joshua, Katie, Jesica, April and Catlin, one sister and her husband, Verla and Clarence Hibbing of Paulllina; also hosts of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents
