Edwin F. Ebel, the son of Henry and Mary Kluender Ebel, was born August 26, 1896, in Caledonia Township, O'Brien County, Iowa. He attended the school at St. John's Lutheran School in Germantown. On March 7, 1928, he was united in marriage to Hilda Kluender in Colorado. After their marriage, the couple farmed in the Iona, Minn. area for two years before moving to the Germantown area where he was employed at various farms for many years and for the last twelve years before his retirement in 1961, he was janitor at the St. John Lutheran School. Edwin continued to make his home in Germantown until his passing on Monday October 8, 1984, at his home, reaching the age of 88 years, one month and 12 days.
Edwin served in the Army during WWI and was a member of the Russell West Post of the American Legion of Paullina. He was baptized on September 13, 1986 and confirmed on March 10, 1910, and was a life long member of St. John's Church in Germantown.
He is survived by his wife, Hilda of Germantown; three daughters, Mrs. Charles (Anna Mae) Blanchard of Kent, Washington; Mrs Robert (Evelyn) Rasch of Oregon City, Oregon; and Mrs. James (Ruth) Wester of Paullina; 17 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren, one brother, Reinhart Ebel of Paullina; and one sister, Mrs. Rose Wittrock of Slayton, Minn.; also a host of other relatives and friends.
Edwin was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister,
