Adolf Mangels, 87, died Wednesday, December 4, 1985 at the Lake Park Center. Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Leyson Funeral Home in Milford, with the Rev. Leonard Root officiating. Burial was at the Pleasant View Cemetery at Hartley.

The pallbearers were Leland Hirt, Ken Sloan, Wayne Tibbetts, Perry Leslie, Loren Leslie and Dan Leslie. The honorary bearers were Pete Bracker, Lawrence Bracker, Hans Schmidt, Bill Huston, Emil Hennings and Otto Fisher.

The son of Edward and Clara Schroeder Mangels, he was born July 21 1898 at Blue Grass. He married Ella Hirt May 5, 1919 in Spencer. She died in 1944.

In 1951, he married LaVonne Friesleben in Washington, Minn. They lived in Hartley where he was a trucker and also worked in the creamery until 1965 when he retired and moved to the Lakes area.

He has been a resident of the Lake Park Care Center since 1981.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Ella; an infant son, two grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife, LaVonne of Spencer; a son, Lester of Hartley; four daughters, Bonnie Wilkins of Norwalk, California, Floris Kelso of North Ridge, California, Peggy Leslie of Dickens and Betty Adams of Spencer; a stepdaughter, Jackie Eilts of Wyota; 15 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; and a sister, Lillian Alexander of Canago Park, California.
