Loran W. Hardin

Loran W. Hardin, 96, of Larrabee, Iowa died Monday December 22, 2008 in the Happy Siesta Nursing Home, Remsen, Iowa following a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday Decem­ber 26, 2008 at the Greenwood Funeral Home, Chero­kee, Iowa. Rev. Jud Stover officiated. Burial was in the Primghar Cemetery, Primghar, Iowa.

Loran was born on September 24, 1912 near Primghar, Iowa to Hal and Barbara (Nimberger) Hardin. He attended school in Primghar, Iowa. On August 31, 1940 he married Laura Schueder. She preceded him in death December 28, 1978. On September 20, 1980 he mar­ried Elsie Westphal in Cherokee, Iowa. Loran lived and farmed in the same area near Primghar, Iowa, all of his life.
In 1970 he retired and moved to the town of Primghar where he resided until 1980, when he moved to Larrabee, Iowa. He enjoyed dancing, fishing, and traveling with his family

He is survived by his wife, Elsie, two daughters, Sheha Van Der Sloot and her husband, Harold, of Sibley, IA; Helene Handeland and her husband, Gary, of Fountain, CO; a son, Lawrence Hardin and his wife, Gaylene, of Archer, IA; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Laura; brothers, Roy and Westin Hardin; a sister Evelyn Armbrust.
