J.L. Jenkins was born Aug 23, 1869 in Fayette Co., Ohio and died Sept 24, 1945 at the Hand Hospital at the age of 76 years, 1 month and one day.

Mr. Jenkins came to Iowa about 56 years ago and worked on farms until January 28, 1892 when he was married to Miss. Winifred Smith. To this untion two children were born, Arth of M___ and Mrs. Willa Wagner of Hartley. After ten years, the family moved to Hartley where he has lived until his death.

Besides his wife and children, he leaves to mourn his passing 1 son in law, 1 daughter-in-law, 1 sister, Mrs. Anna DePoy of Vinton, 3 brothers, F.F. and W.H. of Vinton, Iowa and H. of VanHorne

He was baptized by immersion on December 26, 1894 at Van, Iowa

Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church.
