Harry Scott, One of Earliest Residents, Is Buried Monday

Harry Scott, who, as a boy five years of age, came to Paullina from Scotland with his parents in 1881, died Saturday at Ward Memorial Hospital in Primghar. He was in the hospital six weeks following a stroke on August 14. He was 89

Mr. Scott, who lived on the same farm for 84 years, had been an early member of the Presbyterian church, here. He had joined the church in 1897 but as a boy oŁ five saw the first step of organization of the First Presbyterian church when a group of pioneers met in the Scott home in January, 1882.

Mr. Scott became well known for having been a breeder of fine horses and raising some of the nationally famous Clydasdale horses

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2.00 at the First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. J Paul Boaz officiated at the services. Gaudian Funeral Home was in charge of arrange­ments. Burial was in Prairie View Cemetery, here.

Special music was by Mrs. Harold DeJong, accompanied by Mrs. Marvin Smith. Pallbearers were Richard Simm, Harry Crouse, Marvin Smith, LeRoy Hoick, Max Lanham and Martin Puhrmann.

Obituary

Mr Scott was born at Hawick, Scotland July 19, 1876. He came to this community in 1881 with his parents, Alexander and Helen Scott. He was married to Mary Cowan Nov. 10, 1909. To them three children were born. He is survived by three daughters; Bella of Paullina, Mrs. Max Thorman (Jean) of Dickens and Mrs. Francis Stoulil (Margaret) of Havelock; 14 gandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Scott preceded him in death, in 1957.
