The people of Sanborn were both shocked and saddened last Saturday by the arrival of a telegram announcing that Ira Ogan had been killed at Madrid, Iowa, while breaking on a freight train. The telegram did not state how the accident happened but later it was learned that he was setting a break [sic] when some part of it broke and he was thrown from the car and his neck broken which resulted ia almost immediate death. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Ogan of this place and formerly worked on the Milwaukee road here but recently went down on the branch between Perry and Ceder Rapids. He was a young man of good steady habits, liked by all who met him. Mr. Ogan leaves a wife and three small children besides a father and mother and a brother and sister to mourn his death. At the time of his death his wife was at Nashua and did not arrive here until Monday thus being to late for the funeral, as the body was brought to Sheldon Sunday and from there to this place in the afternoon and the furneral was held from the house at four thirty the same afternoon. Rev. Bailey conducted the services and the remains were laid at rest in Roseland Cemetry. The entire family is grief stricken and the mother was prostrated and for a time it was feared that she would be very ill. The bereaved ones have the deepest sympathy of the entire community in this dark hour.
